The Rogue Valley Medical Center commissioned a colorful map of the facilities with whimsical elements added to help soften the hard edges of a large institutional healthcare facility. The illustration, which included scenes of cartoonish people engaged in various activities around the medical campus, almost made the idea of visiting the doctor a fun event. This was used as a visitor map and a fold out portion of their annual report.
By contrast the map below shows an illustrated layout of a larger teaching hospital facility with different requirements for their map. This was designed for the purpose of showing the campus in a straightforward fashion to help guide visitors through a rather complex maze. These maps were distributed from several locations on the campus plus enlarged and used in kiosks at various locations around the facility.
